If you think the Cheddar Caving Club might be for you then get in touch with us and arrange to come caving. It doesn't matter how much or little experience you have. We regularly have training sessions above and below ground and these are great opportunities to get to know us.
Simply contact the Member Co-ordinator or come and approach us at the pub on a meet night. We meet on the third Sunday of every month above ground at The White Hart, The Bays, Cheddar, BS27 3QN from 8:00pm - Come along and have a natter/book a trip or just watch the committee meeting!
Here is the Application Form.
Basic kit can be supplied by our Equipment Officer to new members but it's always a good idea to invest in a pair of wellingtons, a boiler suit and rubber gloves to get you started.
The following items are available to borrow from the equipment officer, Peter, based in Shipham:
Oversuits, Undersuits, Helmets, Lights, Belts, Ropes, Caving bags, Ladders, Spreaders, Karabiners, Slings, SRT kit, Knee pads, CSCC cave access key and (to authorized users) Charterhouse Caving Company cave access keys.
If you would like to use any of the above equipment please contact Peter at the above link or via the Club googlegroup email. Equipment is provided free of charge to members. Basic equipment can be loaned to prospective new cavers, when a donation would be appreciated. Please provide your own set of (3) AA batteries for use in the helmet lights. Please call in advance to confirm availability and to arrange pickup.
Cheddar Caving Club's training sessions take place as and when is necessary and can be held in local caves, in other caving regions, at indoor facilities or even in the pub! They can be as long or as short as suits our members and are intended to be as enjoyable as they are educational.
