To the surprise of some locals we got kitted up on the roadside and walked to the entrance in a rare break in the rain.

Paul did a grand job of rigging and we all slid to the bottom, admiring a number of bats on the way. After examining the boulder ruckle at the end of the cave we returned to the end of the rope and started to SRT our way up.

I think it’s fair to say that Euan had a bit of a nightmare, all caused by subtly “wrong” lengths of various foot loops, harness and chest jamber resulting in slow and extremely tiring progress, thankfully Paul was on hand to abseil back down and assist, all got to the surface fine and had an actual debrief in the White Hart, Cross

Perhaps the club should consider a “fitting service” for new SRT kit, either at a monthly meeting or after a Wednesday night’s caving?
